I think a lot of students would agree with you. Part 2 is scary because you have to speak for so long on your own.

In fact, though, when it comes to the actual test, most students don't
have much of a problem with Part 2. The other stages end up
keeping their scores down... [em04]

Hi Peggy,

Great to hear from you! Thanks for your insights into listening
and speaking. I'm sure other students will find them useful.

How do you like Sydney?

You're right that the IELTS speaking test requires you to speak more than a normal conversation with a foreigner. In fact, though, if you often speak with foreigners, I bet you have the ability to speak for two minutes in English, and you have the ability to answer the more difficult questions in part 3.

The main thing is to practice the format of the interview. Why don't you try having one of your foreign friends give you a practice interview? :)

By the way, Happy Moon Festival!!
----
http://ncjohn.blogchina.com/
hehe

Mr John,I got my score yesterday,reading7.5,listening6.5,writing6 ,speaking 6,and overall is 6.5.

I'm so exciting that I got 6 in speaking, because I feel awful in Part 2.my topic is culture. The judger told me to talk about another culture.I'm too nervous to talk much.I only used 3or 4 sentences in this part, and used less than half a minute. After part 2 I told the judger I am very nervous and I forgot mang things of my experience in Great Britianat the moment. And I'm very surprised that I still got 6!Thank goodness,my dream is coming true. Also thank you very much for your encouragement!

Interesting. I'm still surprised that you only got a five. It's fine for you to ask if your roomate counts as a neigbor, and it's also fine that the interviewer to say that they don't.

My suspicion is that you were a bit nervous, and that that affected your score. The location of your test shouldn't have any impact. In fact, the interviewers in Dalian are often sent over from Beijing.

I would suggest testing again. Try to do a few model interviews before your test so you can have a better idea of your score. Also, take a look at the 评分标准,and figure out in which specific areas you need to improve.

----
http://blog.sina.com.cn/m/john/

John,

Thank you for your corrections and suggestions!

I'll improve my oral English as soon as possible. May be that's the most important thing. I'll make my confidence again, and please hear my next result.

By the way, happy Halloween!

A million thanks again!
