To John:)

Your blog is awesome!

Thank you for telling me the differences between SUPPER & DINNER.

Here's a sentence from your blog I am puzzled about:

"话说在前面,我是一个很容易被感动的人,但昨天晚上的比赛确实把我给感动了"

Don't you think it's logically wrong?[em01]

Your Chinese is 99% perfect, but you said to pick it apart![em07]

P.S.:Two questions

从悬崖上摔下来是fall off the cliff还是fall from the cliff

eg: She fell off the cliff yesterday or she fell from the cliff yesterday?

点燃蜡烛是light a candle还是light up a candle?

eg:I lit a candle in my bedroom to look for my watch or I lit up a candle in my bedroom to look for my watch?

Thank you in advance!

Hi! Thanks for your comments about my blog.

You're right about that sentence. Several people have pointed out that it's wrong. I think I'll go ahead and change it. Actually, what I was trying to express was the fact that, because I'm easily moved, it's not surprising that I was moved by the speech competition. Any ideas on how to express that?

As for your questions...

1. Both are okay.

2. The first one is more commonly used, though the second might be acceptable in some situations.

----
http://blog.sina.com.cn/m/john/
