People retain diverse attitudes towards this hot issue. Before presenting my view, I intend to explore both sides of the argument.Many people claim that people living in a new country should accept the new culture and adapt to their new environment. To begin with, by accepting the new notions and lifestyle, you can easily survive and enjoy a comfortable life and be well adaptable. Moreover, it is a necessity for overseas students to adapt to the new culture and society, because it may impose an adverse influence on their living and study if they cannot be socially adaptable. Furthermore, to form a separate minority may bring out negative outcomes such as hostility and resentment. It will undoubtedly exert a negative impact on relationship between people from different nations.Some other people, however, strongly hold that it is necessary to form a group with their own values and lifestyle for several sound reasons. Firstly, they are in a foreign country and are actually a minority with little power, many of which even have no equal rights. Therefore, it is wise for them to join together to enhance their strength to cope with social problems. Secondly, by helping each other in the group, people can more easily adapt to the new community and society and lead a better life. Thirdly, students in a new environment may more or less have physical or psychological problems, so it is helpful for students to get together to help each other.From the above discussion, we can see that there is actually some truth in both statements. Personally, I am in favors of the former view. Adaptability is an important quality for people especially students who are going abroad to further their education. Notions about that topic vary greatly. Advocates claim that the speeding up of life in almost every area is detrimental to peoples health. Research findings reveal that nearly 50% of workers in variety of fields are leading stressful life, characterized by the increasing rates of depression, mental disorder and suicide. that is to say ,there ,are so many situations we get too much caught in time, and sometimes push ourselves a Little beyond our limits. Furthermore the quickening temp of Modern lifestyle also contributes partly to the increasing rubbish problem .because many people prefer fast food and take away food to the traditional meals for the conveniences sake. In that case, the pollution caused by the widely use of disposable items can hardly be avoided. Last but not least, we cut so many times to work which should be shared with our friends, kids and parents. Opponents, however, argue that the bonuses of a speeding up life should never be neglected. In todays world, we have entered an information era, and time means much more than what it used to be .In other words, with the effective ways of living, one have more chances to keep abreast with the latest development, get acquainted with more useful information, and eventually become a winner. Whether the architects should worry about buildings as works of art has become an issue of controversy. Before presenting my opinion, I would like to probe into both sides of the debate. Critics argue about the shortcomings of buildings designed as works of art. First of all, it needs a great sum of money to design beautiful buildings with extra decorations. Most people would like to have better infrastructures and recreative facilities rather than a better look. Secondly, the side effects brought by artistic designs also arouse people’s wide concern. They worry about the safety of buildings and they believe the steadiness is more essential. Last but not least, the appearance which is loved by the designers may not be accepted by everyone. Different people have discrepant views. It is easier said than done to settle a proposal satisfying everybody. Supporters also claim that there are a large number of benefits following the special architectures. For one thing, we can hand down our cultural heritages by constructions. If we fail to build up symbols of our tradition, our descendants may forget it someday. For another thing, it’s also a good way to enhance the embellishment. There is no doubt that a good image of the city could successfully attract the world’s attention and provide the dwellers with more opportunities. Also worth mentioning is that it can give us good feelings. Under such circumstance, people could work more efficiently and rest more comfortably. Generally speaking, both of their views are rational. But personally, I side with the latter one. Anyway, we don’t want to live in a world with the same buildings, the same colours and the same styles.                    12.17 雅思考试7.5分心得        环球学员陈旭     在这次的雅思考试中，我取得了7.5分的好成绩，单项成绩分别是：     听力：8.5 阅读：7 写作：8 口语：6     能取得这样的成绩的确让我很惊讶也很激动，这里我要多谢环球对我的培养，同时也拿自己复习时的心得和大家分享，希望能给大家提供一些经验，让大家少走一些弯路。 总的来说，我觉得这次运气的因素还是比较大的，12.17的题目似乎出乎意料的简单（这是我第1次考，所以不太了解考试的难度，但我觉得比我所做的练习要简单）。我是十月份参加环球的周末培训班，12月初结束，然后17号参加的考试，在这两个月之前，大概也有2年没有英语课，而且大学的英语课就跟中学的体育课一样，能保证英语不退步都不错了（英语系的除外），所以我复习起来还是比较吃力。     个人认为考试前最好先确定好一个目标，有了目标才能确定复习时的方向，不至于浪费时间。我考前的目标是希望能凑合拿个7分，但鉴于我对自己的听力和阅读并不是时候有信心，而且短时间内提高口语的可能性也不太大，所以我拿7分的计划是：听力7，阅读7，写作7，口语6。这是我觉得比较实际的拿7分的模型。     下面我就谈谈我两个月的复习过程：         听力：我是按照李老师的方法来复习的，即先横听，后纵听。我首先是做环球的《强化类听力》，把没在课堂上做的练习自己做一遍，全部都是横听，即先做全部的SEC1，然后SEC2，这样做下去。做完后，先不对答案，再听一遍，把一些没把握或者没填的再听一遍（这样我可以知道是否由于读得太快或者我精神不集中导致没填对），接着对答案，再听一遍，并且跟读（因为老师说这对口语有点帮助）。大概考前一周的时候，我开始纵听，做的范围是CAM3和CAM4的听力，然后大概评估自己的得分。我也有做过一些其他的听力练习，但由于难度和清晰度都不太可靠，所以做了一些便放弃了，也建议大家不要浪费时间，按老师的要求和推荐去做就足够了。由于在早期我并没有复习听力，所以导致后面时间比较紧。其实听力也不是短时间能有较大提高的，我做练习的时候成绩也并不稳定，有时会错很多，所以建议大家听力要提前准备，保证每天都听一点（这很重要，保持对英语的敏感），这样就不至于像我一样在最后才着急。还值得一提的是，不要忽略字母的大写和名词的单复数，当然还有动词的时态，这些看起来虽然是小问题，但如不及早注意，在后面是很难纠正的。最后就是注意一下老师提示的一下特殊的数字、时间和一些常考的词汇。至于机经和预测，如果时间比较充裕的话是可以看一下的，也不必死记，大概了解一下，留个印象，我觉得就可以了，毕竟那些地址或者时间什么的根本不是一般人能全记下来的。无论如何，还是先把该做的练习做了，那才是王道。         阅读：阅读这次的分数并不是很理想，我觉得这次的阅读比我做的阅读都要简单，但成绩却不怎么乐观。大概毕竟我阅读的练习也没做多少。我首先把环球阅读的那本练习给做了，按顺序做完，当然也有背前面的词缀，姑且不说这在对付阅读中古灵精怪的单词很凑效，这其实对英语学习也很有帮助。CAM3呢，我大概是考前2，3天才做完的，一天时间做完，这似乎是不太好的方法，但时间太紧，也只好这样，大家可以更好的安排时间，更有效率的复习。在阅读的训练过程中，我似乎也只是一味的做，比较盲目，大概就是单调的想提高Scanning和Skimming吧，其实效果十分不明显，临考前我还不停向老师和朋友请教，但在我看来，这大概也只能是靠不断的积累和锻炼的吧（我哪还有时间）。大家如果不太忙的话，就多花时间练一下，毕竟这两项应该算是IELTS阅读的灵魂了，不要最后像我那么狼狈（唉，我好可怜）。至于CAM4的阅读嘛，我没做，因为电子版不清楚，在荧屏前面做没感觉，书又那么贵，找人和我合伙买分担负担他又不干，那只好不看了。另外大家在做练习时要控制做题的速度，一篇阅读切勿超过20分钟，半天找不到答案的题目先放下（我考试的时候也有几题找不到），等全部做完了再考虑他们，这样就不至于把该拿的分给丢了。最后说一下就是，大家买阅读的练习时还是慎重点好，听了老师意见再买，我上辅导班前就迫不及待的买了一本所谓的rubbish，随便能做8分以上，如果大家想用33块大洋买个满足感的话，那本书倒算是个不错的选择。         写作：我一直感觉自己的写作似乎还可以，再加上我的时间比较少，所以我没在写作上花太多的时间去复习。只是把吴老师的笔记看了几遍，记下了那些常用的套句、单词和模板。至于老师提示的几个热点话题，我也只是粗略看了一两个（哪记得住那么多东西），大家只要背好“十大原则”，能够灵活运用，那就一般不会没东西写了。换言之，要确定作文的骨架和灵魂都不难，至于修辞和句子的组织，大概就看大家的功底了。其实不必太刻意用复杂的句式和单词，这样难免让文章变得牵强，容易在逻辑上产生混乱，也不排除用错单词或表达不恰当的可能性。只要句式和一些关键的单词上不要连续的出现，那应该可以在稳定的基础上争取较高的分数。而设计自己的模版也固然很重要，我考前2天就在教材中挑选饼图，流程图，Counter Argument和Discussion各写了一篇，并参考一些以往的高分作文，最后定下整体框架。如果想拿高分，关键应该还是看吴老师的笔记和胜策里面的相关内容，积累一段时间，相信对议论文会有很大的帮助。         口语：我的口语成绩虽说不上十分恶心，但实在也不敢恭维，所以我也不打算说太多。其实我倒是花了不少时间在口语上面，大概都是把那些常考的话题写一遍，然后背下来，现在也觉得有点傻乎乎的。准备的东西几乎全部都用不上，可能是我的运气比较背吧。我的口语突破不了6分，所以我不知道拿7分的难度如何，但我觉得应该也需要下很多功夫，花很多时间才可以。但如果同学们只是想拿6的话，应该不难，我考的时候就只顾着语速和连贯性，逻辑上基本都是乱来的。所以大家应该根据自己的目标适当的安排时间和比重了。         总体来说，我是老老实实按照环球老师所说的去复习，效果是显著的，的确感觉到英语水平有了很大的提高。要是大家在复习过程中遇到困难或者对考试有什么疑问，一定要及时请教老师或者考过雅思的同学。相信各位同学只要确定了目标，合理利用时间，一定能取得令自己满意的分数。

Consequently, people become more and more confused about the characteristic of ads. The issue of whether ads provide audiences with the quality of the merchandise or just tempt customers to purchase them has aroused wide concern in which people retain different views. Before presenting my attitude, it is essential to analyse both sides of the hot issue.   Opponents point out that the aim of advertisement as a sales method is for promoting the goods. In the other words, enterprises use TV, magazines, newspapers and other kind of media to attract peoples eyes to buy in great number of what they produce. According to a latest survey compiled by Marketing, ads could increase sales quantity by 15-25 per cent normally. Some people including parts of general public and a minority of authorities argue that a considerable amount of advertisements existing in our daily life trend to push more consumption instead of informing consumers the quality of goods. That is to say, ordinary people should face more challenges and risks to distinguish from goods to goods because they totally have no idea about the real trait of them. In contrast, advocates hold strong belief that advertisement not only promotes the quantity of goods but also the quality. Furthermore, in some extent, ads are more likely to stand for the status of the very company. The director of Unilever, an international company, recognises that quality is always the most valuable thing, and it is the premise of surviving in this competitive business environment. Advertisement is the very tool to upgrade the brand and also boost the merchandise in quantity. The quantity of one range of goods is not the point at any time, while the sales performance of the whole product portfolio is. The figure from Economist indicates that 78 per cent of advertisement raises the degree of band successfully. In the final analysis, both sides have reasonable foundations. As far as I am concerned, I will not hesitate to subscribe to the opinion of the latter that is advertisement promotes the quality of goods.

Agree or Disagree? Recently, the rate of road accidents has grown dramatically and whether to give stricter punishment for driving offences for the purpose of improving road safety has been increasingly a public focus that triggers a very controversial discussion. Attitudes towards this hot issue are divergent. Proponents claim that giving much stricter punishment can be the most effective way to improve road safety. To begin with, heavy punishment serves as a useful way of warning. With stricter punishment, people will obey the traffic rules more consciously and be more careful when in the roads, or they will get heavy punishment for their misdoings. Besides, stricter punishment makes people better aware of how serious the road safety problems are so that they will act more responsibly on roads for the sake of their property and lives. Last but not least, people believe that driving offences who had received heavy punishment are less likely to violate the rules for a second time. Opponents, however, argue that posing much stricter punishment is not the most useful as well as the only way to prevent accidents on roads because road accidents cannot be prevented in essence in this way. First of all, giving punishment is just an action taken after the occurrence of accidents but not something done beforehand to prevent accidents from happening so its function is very limited. Views on the hot issue vary greatly. Therefore, it is sensible to analyze both sides of the argument before I present my view.   Advocates of supporting practice hold the belief that students should do some practice not go to college straightly. First and foremost, it is a good way for students to learn something through practice in society. Students have more chances to know what is happening around them, which broaden their horizon and enrich their mind. Practice teaches students a lot that they cannot read in books. Secondly, some books in college are out of fashion and some course cannot keep up with the development of society at the same time. If leading a good life and absorbing the quintessence, students must do some practice and keep steps of society. Last of all, doing some practice let students earn some money, which can reduce the high burden of a family. And it is helpful to cultivate students’ self-responsibility and induce students to share happiness and sorrow with family, which lead to strengthening the family ties.  Opponents claim that students should go to school straightly. Primarily, college is a good place for students to study and live. Basic life skills are based on knowledge assimilation in college. Students should learn more before going to do some practice in society. Furthermore, so tempting society is that students are prone to social ills. Students are innocent an naïve so that they cannot differentiate virtual from evil and cannot resist the temptation. Do some practice in society sometimes exerts negative on students development and they are easy to fall victims to society. Worst of all, students will pay more attention on practice in society than on study in college. The main task of students is study not practice. If they spend too much on practice, they will go astray.  In the final analysis, both side have sound foundations. As far as I ma concerned, I am in favor of the former. Student will go into society one day, so they should do some practice in society in order to learn more and enhance their understanding of real life, which is a necessary way of their growing-up.  心得体会：这次考试写作得了七分，对我而言成绩只是一般。学习英语专业的我，这次考试在写作上花得时间不多，所以我认为平时的基本功还是需要的。另一方面，在写作备考中，我认为吴老师的方案非常有用，考前一定要把那十大原则词汇背熟，而且多背套句，套句是很有用的，   不管你的写作底子是不是很好。因为，我认为一般的英文写作跟雅思还是有不同的，所以套句格式是一定要背诵的。最后，根据自己的需要，总结出一份自己的前后套句，熟记，多练，至少在考前十几天的时间要连连笔。（我是在考前十天开始练笔的，练笔之前单词和套句全部总结完毕，然后每天在规定时间内完成）。我想按照上述步骤，仔细听从吴老师的教导，写作是可以高分的。

First of all, learning various subjects can extend students’ scope of knowledge. People might never realize how little they know about certain things until they read articles or books relevant and even worse when conversations start. Extensive reading of different subjects can help to release the inferior complex when such situation occurs. They may also be proud of themselves and become confident in study since they know a lot. In addition, some subjects can teach students how to balance work and life, comment current affairs and cultivate students’ common sense of life as well. All these benefits can make students become knowledgeable. Learning a range of subjects can also add spice to the students’ studies. Students may be fed up with study when they concentrate on a special subject constantly to the exclusion of other subjects. Despite the fact that studying many subjects can occupy part of the time for students to study their majors, it can facilitate the students to enrich their campus life and maintain their interest in study. Most important of all, studying more can cultivate students’ logical thinking and make them become more creative and competent, which is of great significance to their further development. It is commonly believed that most of the subjects are linked to each other, to some extend. With a range of knowledge, students can find different solutions to approach the problems they encounter either at work or in life, which will definitely make the students more creative and innovative in the field they specialize in. Clearly, the students with all-around knowledge have an apparent advantage over those specializing in only one subject. Thus, students should make effort to acquire more knowledge in their study periods so that they will not be eliminated in the severe competition in the era of information explosion. In a word, studying a variety of subjects is beneficial to the university students. In this case, not only can the students better themselves, but also become adaptable and flexible in the increasingly challenging and competitive world. It is advisable that students spend time learning more subjects instead of focusing on a specific subject, so that they can prepare themselves and cater for the even-accelerated society.

作者：吴老师学生DELPHINE 更多精彩文章请点击 <a href="http://www.gzielts.cn/">http://www.gzielts.cn</a>今天拿奖学金，应老师的要求，说一下我考7分的心路历程和我的复习计划！可能说得不好，希望大家不要介意！～    首先，说一下我各科的成绩吧，listening:6.5,reading:8,writing:7,speaking:6。能拿到这个成绩我当然要感谢老师们，还有帮过我的朋友和自己的努力！～ 其实我准备雅思的时间不是很长，除去我荒废的时间，大概就一个半月吧，但是要说明的是我本来的英语水平就不差，四级87，六级89.5，但是不得不承认雅思的考试和四六级的考试很不一样，就算四六级考得很好，雅思也不一定能考好，所以当时我并没有抱有很大的信心去考的。下面我就按时间来说一下我的经验吧^_^ 当决定要考雅思的时候，我就开始上网查找哪个雅思培训班好，选择好的培训班是良好的开始。 听力，阅读，写作，口语四门，我花的时间最多的是听力和写作，我的听力考得一般，所以也不想多说什么了，不过我个人觉得机经很重要，特别是机经里的词汇和场景，一定要熟悉，四月份的两次考试都说明了机经里的内容很有可能出现在考卷上！而且老师所说的技巧也很重要，平时练习的时候要熟悉这些技巧，本人就是因为太自负不相信那些技巧，到最后两个星期才突然发现自己总结的技巧其实老师早就讲过了！虽然我阅读考了8分，但是我在阅读花的时间最少，我甚至连一份完整的21cn都没看过，因为我非常认同高老师的方法，所以接受得很快，上课的时候做题的准确率也很高，我觉得聚焦雅思的情景里的阅读非常好，我平时就是用那些题来做练习的，思路挺清晰的，值得推荐。说说写作吧，在考雅思之前，我曾经准备过托福，所以可以说我的语法是应该没有问题的了，而且还掌握了很多种句型，至于词汇，我想四六级的词汇应该可以应付雅思的写作了。其实我真的推荐各位烤鸭多看看21cn，不只是看懂了，而且自己做做笔记，记录一下好的句型，表达。我懒，就没坚持下来了！整理吴老师教的方法和笔记，我大概用了十几天吧，其中包括设计好模板。我觉得TASK1的套句非常多，一定要自己根据吴老师的笔记整理，光TASK1的套句我就整理了四五张草稿纸了，像什么上升用什么词，下降用什么，这些套句老师和书都有讲，自己整理的话比较容易记住，然后看看例文怎么
