TOPIC English as a global languageRecently,the debate over whether English brings more pros than cons as a global language has aroused people's wide concern.Diverse attitudes were held towards this controversial topic.Before presenting my view,I intend to explore both sides of the hot issue.
Advocates strongly hold the belief that English is beneficial for the development of world as an worldwide offical language.First and foremost,by using English,it's much more convinient to communicate with different people from othe countries.Thus, the cooperation between people become stronger and stronger.In additon,cultruel communication among different nations lead people to gain more imformation to improve themselves.People buy books which publish in English about several special places,they can still understand easily.Besides,because of using English as a formal global language,it's more and more effictive for people from different countries to work hand in hand.Erasing the time of traslation and erros because of bad communication,become sound reasons for high speed development.
Opponents,however,severely object the idea that English becoming a global language leads a series of cultruel problems.Native languages will more or less be paid less attention than before if English is accepted by more and more native inhibitans.Furthermore,closer communication leads crisis for cultures that are on the risk of extinction.Customs are not difficult to forget by any generation which are educated with western ideas.Therefore,cultures,as a heritage of ancestors,will be bot competely.Finally,there will be no differences among the countries.
In my final analysis,there are some truth in both sides actually.Personally,I am in the favor of former view.Globleization is an unchangeable trend,therefore people need a language to communicate.English now is consider to be a global language as a tool for different people to talk in order to boost the deveiopment of globlization.I quite agree that Englsh has more advantages than disadvantages as a global language.
