Nowadays, some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because people
can see historical objects and works by using computer. Do you agree or disagree?
回答:
People tend to broaden their horizon of history and art by going to public museums and art galleries. As computers play a more and more important role in our daily life, consequently people have changed the way of their living, communicating, and thinking. As the result, some suggest that visitors see photos and videos of historical objects and artworks by using computer instead of looking around in museums and galleries. in my opinion, merits of this suggestion outweigh its drawbacks. Historical objects and masterpieces could be reserved well and in relative terms less chance to be intact. These valuable things displayed in museum and galleries require professional cares in order to keep it for long time as much as possible for research and studying. Opening to public may cause theft or accidentally damages both of which are critical paining issues for officers. Wide access to pictures and videos through internet can be one precaution or workaround solution to the issues. Therefore people interested can see them by using computer and even investigate in great details if sufficient material available online.

Additionally, it is easy to introduce historical objects and artworks to people all over the world by computer. If a map drawn in 500 B.C in Great British Museum can be viewed by computer online, for example, a Japanese student majoring European history may be excited to study this map without physically visiting the museum on his own. In the belief that art is not confined to countries, wide introduction of one country’s culture will not be that difficult as before.

To sum up, I would prefer seeing pictures of historical objects and works by computer at home, in days or nights. And that will dramatically decrease zealous visitors to museum and galleries and therefore there will be fewer worries for officers.
