Some people think that the high sales of popular consumer goods are the result of powerful advertising rather than the real needs of the society. Though a series of complex factors enter into this issue, I consider this viewpoint, to some extend, as acceptable and realistic.

What lies behind this phenomenon? The high price, including manufacturing cost and advertising spend, is surely one explanation. Actually, many people are not quite familiar with those new and special things. Thus, the shop owners tend to take every effort to elaborate the advertising campaign and the passers-by can always be attracted by those assorted advertisements that litter the shop window or inside the fashion shops. Therefore, it is the large advertising cost that results in the high price, indirectly increasing the amount of sales.

Furthermore, we can not deny the fact that fashion shops, beautifully decorated, exert a peculiar fascination on a great many people, especially the young. For the young enjoy a strong sense of curiosity, they are likely to conduct impulsive purchases. Neither truly dedicated bargain hunters, nor some young man are capable of recognizing whether their consuming is worthwhile. Apart from the fairly high price, consuming features above contribute to the high sales in fashion industry.

We could not conceal the fact that part of popular goods of great value well be found in a colorful shop. An expensive Bear Toy is bound to be a treasure, enhancing a certain relationship. We can also cherish the hope that something contemporarily popular can amply appreciate. Nevertheless, the irrational purchases happen far more frequently, and then people fail to get something useful. Eventually, in the issue of high sales of popular consumer goods, the advertisement takes the center stage.
