[font=Times New Roman]Topic: in some countries, schools aim to provide a general education across a range of subjects, in others, children focus on a narrow range of subjects related to a particular career. In today’s society the two systems which is more appropriate?[/font]

[font=Times New Roman] In china, schools provide a wide range of subjects for students like Chinese, Mathematics, English, Chemistry, and Politics and so on. Until students go to university, they can choose one major which they are interested in and maybe related to their future career. But in some other countries, children only focus on a limited range of subjects related to career since primary school. In my opinion, the first education system is much better.[/font]

If children focus on a narrow range of subjects, they can only do a particular job. It is really hard to change their job and start a new career in future, not only because of their limited knowledge but also because of their age at that time. It has been suggested by leading researchers in the field of education that the best time for one to gain knowledge is under twenty-five. After that age, people will feel difficult to learn and hard to remember. As a result, it is better to learn more when we are young.[/font]

Besides, more choice would be available in terms of the wide range of knowledge. That’s a significant advantage for general education. For instants, students in china have to learn nine subjects in high school. It is really hard but it makes them a better future because they can choose any major they like or more than one major in university. The same thing will happen when they choose their job.[/font]

In a word, I think schools provide a general education with range of subjects is more appropriate and is better for children. If children learn more when they are young, they will have more choice which means a better life in future.[/font]
