The aim of education is to cultivate and improve students’ variety abilities. However some people say teachers should only teach students academic subjects. Some people think this opinion is lop-sided, so they say teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge what is right and wrong. I admit that academic subjects are necessary for students, but letting them learn to judge is more important.
There is no denying that teacher should teach students academic subjects in school, which will help students to realize about special acknowledge, according to which students can chose their occupations in future. So it is necessary that in primary and secondary school give some elements courses, such as Chinese, English, Math, Physics, Geography, History, Chemistry, and so on, and at university or college have professional courses, i.e. Law, Economic, Finance.
However, students needing this necessary and professional knowledge is not means teacher only teach them academic subjects, it is more important for teacher to teach students how to judge right and wrong. In any countries, the aim of establishing education system is to improve all people’ diathesis and heighten human civilization. So teachers teaching students the ability of judgement and obtaining knowledge is more useful than telling them knowledge. If students only learn the professional knowledge, but not have right valuation, it is very danger for society. It is typical example that some people are like to commit a crime for make more money using their special skill. Therefore, for avoiding some bad social problem occurring, developing people’s civilization, teacher should teaching students what is right and wrong, and let students set up right valuation.
To conclude my essay, I would like to quote an old saying that teacher should teach what kind of knowledge, how and why to gain.
