In recent year, youth unemployment has aroused people’s wide concern. According to a research done by Beijing
University, there are 30 per cent of young graduates can’t find a job in last year. This phenomenon, which may result in a number of side-effects such as crimes, has been increasingly enhancing public awareness. In this essay, I aim to probe into the problem from diverse angles, figure out the underlying factors, and set forth some effective measures.
What are the reasons of youth unemployment? An array of integrated factors accounts for it. Here I would analyze a few of the most significant ones. The first causative factor is the increasing enrollment of universities. With the purpose of promoting citizens’ education level, universities in China enroll more students than ever before. As a result, there are far more competitors than job vacancies. That is to say, youngsters have to face more fierce competition in job-hunting. Also, lack of work experience is another contributing factor. Usually, employers consider that young students just finished their education; they don’t have enough practical experience to handle the difficulties in the ‘real world’. In this case, employers prefer to hire the ones who have working experiences. Most importantly, the fundamental factor is the high demands of universities students. For illustration, most young people don’t accept a low-paid job; because they think their education deserve a more promising post. In fact, however, the job vacancies for young people can’t meet their excessive high demands.
Confronted with such a thorny issue, what actions shall we take? From my point of view, there are some feasible steps as follows. First and foremost, government should set up some organizations, in order to provide job market information and guidance to young graduates. This kind of organizations can help young students to make decisions of how to start their careers, which is very important to them. Moreover, youngster can try to find more part-time jobs during their education periods. A part-time job can not only provide them money, but also the significant experience, which is quite helpful in job-hunting. Lastly, young people should adjust their demands. Salary and wage is not the first thing they consider. Instead, promoting and training opportunities are more crucial for their lives.
When the community is fully aware of the severity, and carries out impactful countermeasures, I firmly believe that we can reduce the youth unemployment. So let’s join hands to make a better job-hunting environment, a bright future, both for youngsters and the country!
