What kind of sports do you like?

I like all kinds of sports. And I like playing basketball most. The game is very popular in the world, because it is very healthy for a young person like me. I believe it can practice my flexibility of muscles and speed of reaction. (I believe it can make me stay fit and train me to have a quick response.) Every time I am playing basketball outdoors, I can breathe lots of fresh air and feel quite vigorous. Then I study more efficiently. Yes, most people like sports, because sports are of great benefit to the people.

There are varieties of sports they like. Allow me to mention a few examples. Basketball and football is played mainly by the younger generation. All age groups play table tennis, better known as ping-pong. It needs less facilities and small space, so it very suits for all kinds of people in this developing country. Chinese people play the so-called small-ball games like ping-pong and badminton well because of their relatively small physique. Swimming, skating, and playing volleyball are popular as well.

First, sports can shape people’s body and get rid of redundant fat. Second, everyone can practice his or her flexibility and speed of reaction. Do you think cooperation is important?

Yes. Cooperation is quite important in modern society. With the rapid development of science and technology, the knowledge is updated at an amazing rate. An individual can’t have all of the knowledge and the ability of an individual is limited. Cooperation makes everyone inspirit each other and learn from others' strong points to offset one's weakness, just as adding wings to a tiger. If you want to get a great achievement, you must cooperate with others.

Do you think winning is important?

Winning is very important but not the most importance. In most time, friendship is the first and success is the second. However, some contests contain the honor of the nation. Every competitor should try one’s best to win. But any player should get the winning under the justice and should not do harm to other players in order to get a high rank.

What is your opinion on the international sports events? Should the government support large sports events? Why?

In my opinion, those events can promote friendship and clear up prejudice between nations. They can create opportunities for people from different countries and social systems to get together on an equal basis, therefore helping to enhance mutual understanding. The Sino-US ping-pong diplomacy is a vivid illustration. The ping-pong matches played an all-important role in breaking the ice and eventually leading to the normalization of China and the United States.

Also, the international sports events stimulate the globalization and give the world business more chance such as tourism, advertisement, TV broadcast and so on. For instance, it is estimated that Beijing would get a high income more than 2 billion Yuan in the coming Olympics Game in 2008.

What’s your opinion on big companies, tobacco companies in particular, to support such events?

I don’t think it is improper for big companies to support such events. The large sports events give everyone different chances. The business is no exception. Supporting such events can enlarge companies’ influence and propagandize their products, which are one of the most important good effects brought by sports game. Nonetheless, tobacco is bad for one’s health. Consequently, as for tobacco companies, they should be restricted in advertising so as not to encourage people to smoke.

Do you think it is rational that sportsmen get high salary?

Many athletes began to have very hard trainings in the childhood. Admittedly, it is justified that some sportsmen become very rich, because they acquire their wealth through their hard work and intelligence. They deserve it. But they should never be solely bent on profit. Otherwise they will bring disgrace on their profession and their character.

Can sports stars earn money through commercial advertising?

The sports stars got success and fame through their efforts. Then they used their fame and earned money through commercial advertising. That is beyond reproach. The advertisements can popularize new products and introduce new technology, which give people everywhere the maximum choice of products. Also, the advertisements can make the sports stars more well-known in the world. However, the advertisements of the sports stars must be truthful and can’t mislead consumers.

What are differences of view on sports between men and women?

First, most men and women all like sports, but sometimes men are more active than women. Second, there are few sports in which woman do not participate these days. However, because of the striking physiological differences between male and female, the athletic skills and level of men is higher than that of women.

Can you have a talk about the advantages and disadvantages of Beijing’s holding 2008 Olympic Games?

Holding 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing has many advantages. First, it represents a chance for the city to build more facilities and recreational things. The government will allocate more funds on the construction of infrastructure, such as roads, parks, gymnasiums and so on. And the city will be more beautiful. Second, it will allure more tourists from different parts of the world, which can promote their understanding to China, and then contribute a lot to mutual communication and cooperation. Third, it will boost local economy and promote commercial exchanges. And it will provide more jobs for many people and help solve or ease the social problems of unemployment.

However, “No garden without its weeds.” It has its disadvantages, too. One of the most obvious negative effects is that too many tourists will do great harm to the tranquility and sanitation of the city, and even cause pollution to the natural environment and even destroy some natural resources and scenery. How you knew/met each other? How you became friends? How long you have known each other? How do you spend time together? His/her biggest help to you. Explain why he/she is your best friend.

I have many good friends, and my best friend is called Liang Guifeng. She is a pretty and gentle girl with beady eyes. I met her about five years ago in the class that we attended together. Though we didn’t know each other before, we nearly have the same interest and dream. At that time, the study pressure was quite heavy. We all hoped to pass the National College Entrance Test and enter the university. She is very diligent and we all studied hard. I was good at Math (Chinese) while she did well in English. We helped each other and finally we all got good scores in the examination. In fact, she really gave me a great help to me with my study. Our friendship has grown a great deal over the past five years. We study and play together. We often talk much about our dream, life and love. Adults emphasize the mutual support and understanding. They can forgive and accept friends’ errors and help them out. Let me think, maybe the recent success of china is the construction of Three Gorges Dam. This is one of the greatest water conservancy projects in the world. It is well-known that Changjiang River is the largest and longest river in China. Due to the special geographic environment, this river floods frequently. Nearly every year, hundreds and thousands of people suffered with terrible flood, and the flood also made our country lose hundreds billion Yuan. It is the great waste of nation’s resource. Consequently, the government decided to build the huge dam at the famous Three Gorge, so as to regulate this terrible river. This Dam cuts off the Changjiang River and then raises its forepart water level more than 100 meters additional height. This project lasted nearly 10 years and millions of residents in Three Gorge districts must migrate to other places. The Three Gorge dam project is a miracle in the world.

Benefit of this project:

Let me think, maybe the recent success of china is the fight against SARS in our country. The terrible infectious disease attacked our country this year. Thousands of people died in this tragedy. However, the devil has been efficiently controlled and successfully demolished by Chinese people.

Generally speaking, the spring comes since February, just after the traditional Spring Festival. It lasts about 3 months. In this season, the temperature ranges between 10 and 25 Centigrade. It drizzles a lot so that the weather is very humid. It is time to sow and plough. The vigorous young plants grow fast. It is a bright season. The summer begins at May, which is maybe the terrible weather, because it is too hot. The temperature would climb to 40 centigrade. The lowest temperature is also above 25 centigrade. It is very uncomfortable all day unless you have air conditioning. Swimming is the most popular sports in this season. After 4 months hot days, the autumn comes in September. This season is quite beautiful and has a little cool. I like it very much. It is the golden time of the year; that is to say, it is the crown of the year. Let me tell you about a famous park in my city, called HaiBin Park. That means Beach Park, because it is next to the sea. HaiBin Park is not more than five miles far away from the center of the city. It is only 20 minutes way from my home by bicycle. So I often go to the big park to relax or exercise.

There are quite a lot of plants in this park, the beautiful flowers, the vast meadows and plenty of palm trees. Besides, there is a big square in the center of the park and many parties and shows are held in it. The most special is that there is a long corridor along the sea and you can appreciate the seascape in the park. In the morning, it is very peaceful. It’s an interesting topic. I would like to tell you that the most impressive trip is my traveling to Beijing with my good friends 8 years ago. It is my first trip in my life, so I felt quite exciting. In summer holiday, my friends and I started from my hometown------Zhanjiang by train, and then it took us two days to get to Beijing. While on the train, we chatted, had jokes, told stories and played card games together. Also, the guide was very easygoing. So we all enjoyed the period on the train.

On arriving in Beijing in the morning, the guide led us to watch the ceremonial of raising national flag. The martial honor guard and the royal scene gave me unforgettable impression. Because our trip lasted only one week, we visited two or three places everyday. There are lots of famous tourist attractions in Beijing, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, Temple of Heaven, the YongZheng Temple, the Summer Palace and so on. These places all have much historic significance. I was shaken deeply by the rich cultural treasures in China. There are not only many old-timey buildings but also more modern buildings in Beijing. It is the center of culture and politics in our country. And People in Beijing are very polite and warm-hearted.

The most interesting thing in this trip is that I took some photos with some foreigners in different scenic spots. Also, I made friends with them. I hardly saw a foreigner in my hometown before. At that time, I felt that foreigners were all kind very much whatever pretty girls or old men. In my album, a photo taken on the top of the Great Wall can show it. You can see a British old lady and I were standing on the top of the Great Wall with smile. Behind us was the famous monument which the well-known saying is on it:” You are not the hero until you reach the Great Wall.” I am very pleased with this photo, because the photo shows my proud of standing on the top of the Great Wall and the good relationship between the people from different countries.

This trip was quite interesting and I experienced many fresh things. It is my first trip and also the most exciting and unforgettable trip. So I like it very much.

What are the differences between traveling by single and traveling in a group?

In my opinion, traveling by single is freer. You can decide where and when you want to visit. Moreover, you can control the cost of traveling. But it is not safe enough and you will have a little loneliness.

Traveling in a group is much more mirthful and it is safe. But the cost is higher than traveling by single. And the time and the places to visit are limited.

It is an interesting topic. I like children and I feel they are all lovely. Now I would like to tell you about my elder sister’s small daughter, called Wang Jiayun. She is a 9-year-old pupil, with black straight hair and a fair complexion. Usually she gets a ponytail and she always looks very lively and cheerful. Besides, the most attraction is her beady eyes with long eyelashes, showing her acumen. Many people say that she looks like a little star. In my eyes, she is a beautiful small angel. The girl is enthusiastic about drawing, so her mother especially took her to learn drawing in the school in her spare time. She is so smart that she grasps the basic skills of drawing rapidly. She is progressing and last year, she got the third prize in the drawing competition in her school. Also, she ever learned dancing well and now she has a good figure. Her parents all attach importance to children’s cultivation. Jiayun started to learn English when she was three. Moreover, she likes speaking English. It’s hard to say. Personally, I believe children 20 years ago was less stressful. The competition in school at that time was not so fierce as that in nowadays. Beforetime, a family usually has more than one child and the job opportunities were comparatively plentiful, therefore, the parents didn’t worry much about if their children could enter the university. Nowadays, for the policy of birth control, most families have only one child. Getting a higher education often means the promising future. So the pressures are coming from different aspects: parents, teachers, schoolmates, and the society. To some extent, children live much painfully than before, although they have more materials enjoyments.

How do you think of educational mode of elementary school in China? Are there any problems?

I think the traditional education method, called the cramming teaching, is not very good for Chinese children, though it is very popular in most elementary schools. I don’t think the examination is only a way of reinforcing the knowledge. It should not become the center of the education. The most notable problem is that many children get high score but poor performance. Obviously, the score of test cannot stand for the real ability of a child. Also, The children’s initiative cannot be exerted 51ieltslly.

What is the proper educational mode?
