The number of violent crimes was lowest in 1980 and kept rising in the next decade. The number climbed at approximately 95000 in 1985 and arrived at the peak of 12000 in 1992. Later, it dropped slightly to 11000.
The curve of property crimes is opposite to that of violent crimes. From 1980 to 1985,the number of property crimes increased from 10000 to 11000. After reaching the top, it declined marginally from 11000 to 10000.At last, it reduced to the lowest point 9000.
From the chart, we can also gain the message that before 1900,there are more violent crimes than property crimes. After that, the number of property crimes overpassed the other. And it is also a good news that after 1992,the number of property and violent crimes diminished gradually.
task2 With the increasingly rapid social development, more and more problems emerge in front of us, such as whether life and work are more stressful and less leisurely than in the past. As to this controversial issue, some people believe that it is difficult and tensional to live in the modern society while others claim that it is not the truth. In my point of view, I approve of the latter opinion. There are numerous reasons supporting my idea and I want to explore two of them below.
Initially, it is easily to earn more money with the improvement of living standard. At the first thought, people find it hard to survive because of the dramatically increasing prices. But meanwhile people ignore the fact that they are capable to gain much more money with their higher degree and more skills than the older generation. Taken into comprehensive consideration, it is safe to deduce that people can enjoy better living-condition than the past without much effort.
Another factor that everyone must admit is that high-technology society provides more and more entertainment than before. Great improvement in transportation is beneficial to people who enjoy traveling around the world. High-tech facilities such as computers, cd players are main tools for people to pass leisure time. More sporting facilities and better medical care that are available also help people to relax themselves, which is helpful to their mental and physical heath.
After all, we can’t deny that the competition becoming more and more fierce. But I suggest that people can diminish pressure by lots of means.
Consequently, from the points I have just outlined, it is sagacious to draw the conclusion that people nowadays are likely to enjoy life leisurely with the advance of society.
